KidsAid and Macmillan Cancer Support to benefit from Novacroft’s biggest annual fundraising total to date
Novacroft, the Northampton-based technology team specialising in smart cards and software solutions, is making a difference to the Northamptonshire community with £6345.92 of fundraising for the company’s Charities of the Year 2015, KidsAid and Macmillan Cancer Support.
The money raised, which represents Novacroft team’s largest annual fundraising total yet, will be used by KidsAid to fund vital therapy sessions for children across the county, and by Macmillan Cancer Support to offer essential supporting services to those with cancer.
A key event in the Novacroft team’s fundraising calendar was September’s ROCKSOLID RACE, taken on by 13 determined team members running 5k, 10k or 15k courses, each with their own muddy challenges, from jumping into icy water to paddling dinghies across rivers without paddles, and raising almost £4000 towards the final £6k total.
15k racer and Customer Experience Specialist Adam Gordon said:
Wow. It was emotional, it was epic – a fantastic experience, and the most satisfying thing? We all did it together, all of us that aren’t regular runners, we stuck together and we made it to the end!
Claire Archer, a contact centre advisor, who also took the 15k challenge, said a couple of days after the race:
I think there’s still mud in my ears! The mud was everywhere, I was covered, but I loved it. And I did it with two broken ribs – if I can do it, anyone can do it – I can’t wait until next year!
Speaking about the difference the money will make, Patrick Conrad, Chair of Trustees at KidsAid, said:
KidsAid is a small local charity, with no funding from government sources, yet we support some of the most vulnerable children you can come across. Donations like this are a key source of our income. The money goes towards providing for children that otherwise couldn’t be funded. For example, it costs £70 to fund an hour of counselling for a child, and we see children for a minimum of 12 sessions, often more. So £2000 could fund two children in need. That funding is invaluable to children’s wellbeing and can make all the difference to them. I honestly believe we save children’s lives.
Mandy Spraggett, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, commented:
Without such wonderful and amazing supporters such as Novacroft, there wouldn’t be a Macmillan Cancer Support. The team’s caring and understanding gave them great insight into Macmillan and produced an amazing amount that really will positively affect people with cancer. In Northamptonshire we have a real need to help local people with a cancer diagnosis, 9 out of every 10 people will be financially affected when diagnosed with cancer, we are there to help and so were Novacroft!
Debra Charles, Novacroft’s founder and CEO, said:
I’m absolutely thrilled with this year’s team fundraising effort. It’s of huge importance that as an organisation we support our local community and contribute to making a real difference to society. I’m incredibly proud of the effort, passion and commitment demonstrated by our team members. Thank you to everyone involved.
