Local smart tech company’s 2016 fundraising and voluntary efforts deliver sterling community impact
Novacroft, supporting Workbridge as its Charity of the Year 2016, has raised £2072.82 and contributed eleven days of time to the local mental health charity, part of the larger St Andrew’s Healthcare.
A highlight of the year saw Novacroft taking on October’s Rocksolid Race, when 10 determined team members ran 10k and 15k courses, and together raised over half of the fundraising total.
Abu Sarang, a 10k racer, enthused after completing the course:
Rocksolid was awesome, and it was great to share the experience with some crazy colleagues! Thank you to Novacroft for making it all possible.
Jo Phelps, Head of HR at Novacroft, a 10k Rocksolid runner and someone heavily involved in Novacroft’s charity efforts, said:
It’s the first year I have personally run the 10k and I have to say that it was only teamwork that got me through, the morale and support was out of this world! A big thank you to everyone who took part, you were amazing.
Another key moment in Novacroft’s charity calendar was National Volunteer’s Week, when eleven volunteers from Novacroft devoted their time to Workbridge across two days, sprucing up an overgrown and underused outdoor space, for the benefit of all service users. Workbridge plans to use the outside area as a restful and relaxing location for breaks and picnics, and is currently planning how to develop it.
Committed to encouraging volunteering, Novacroft offers each team member four paid volunteering days annually. In 2016, 5% of the team made use of these days, helping out Workbridge and spending time with other causes they care about. After volunteering, people are commonly feeling ‘good’ or ‘great’ (as measured by our Ucando-it social action reward and recognition programme).
Novacroft chose Workbridge, a local charity and part of St Andrew’s Healthcare, as Charity of Year 2016 following team nominations and voting. Workbridge offers a vocational pathway for people with mental health needs, learning disabilities or brain injuries.
Funds raised will be handed over to Workbridge in early 2017.
